Clopidogrel Bisulphate
Clopidogrel bisulphate is an essential prodrug thienopyridine platelet aggregation inhibitor utilized to maintain blood fluidity across damaged arteries. Its active hepatic thiol metabolite irreversibly binds to the purinergic P2Y12 receptor on the surface of blood platelets. This permanently prevents adenosine diphosphate (ADP) from activating the glycoprotein GPIIb/IIIa complex, completely disrupting the coagulation cascade to prevent dangerous blood clots in patients with coronary stents or active cardiovascular disease.
