Lamotrigine
Lamotrigine is an advanced phenyltriazine anti-epileptic and mood-stabilizing agent. It functions through a multi-channel blocking mechanism, primarily targeting and stabilizing voltage-sensitive sodium channels to inhibit repetitive neuronal firing. By extending the inactivated state of these channels, it directly suppresses the presynaptic release of excitatory amino acids, most notably glutamate, thereby protecting brain tissues from hyper-synchronous over-activation and stabilizing long-term mood cycles.
