Pioglitazone HCl
Pioglitazone hydrochloride is a potent thiazolidinedione (TZD) insulin sensitizer. It acts as a highly selective agonist for the nuclear receptor PPAR-gamma (PPAR-γ), which is predominantly found in adipose, skeletal muscle, and hepatic tissues. Activation of this receptor modulates the transcription of specific insulin-responsive genes, leading to increased expression of glucose transporters (like GLUT4). This significantly enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity, improves cellular fatty acid uptake, reduces circulating free fatty acids, and systematically reverses severe insulin resistance.
